2008 Newbery and Caldecott Winners Announced

The American Library Association has announced the winners of the Newbery Medal and the Caldecott Medal for 2008. The Newbery Medal honors the “the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.” The Caldecott Medal is awarded to “to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.”

All of these items can be reserved by calling either library (McGraw: 336-6060 & Evans: 336-6062) or by using the online catalog.

McGraw Branch in the News!

The McGraw Branch has teamed up with Warm Up America along with knitting instructor Nancy Vandivert to knit blankets for local charities. The program, and librarian Nora Pelish, were featured on WHAM 13’s “Bright Spot” on January 3. If you missed it, you can watch the segment here:

2007 WBER Listener Countdown

Every year, 90.5 FM WBER counts down the favorite songs of their listeners and every year they post that list on their website. The list includes a lot of great music and weighs in at 129 songs.
